Durban City Tour (Half Day)
Inanda Cultural Route
VALLEY OF A THOUSAND HILLS (Half day)
Township experience (HALF DAY)
SHAKALAND (Full Day)

This coastal city is South Africa’s major port. Durban is South Africa’s best known and most popular coastal resort with miles of safe, sandy beaches. Our guide takes you on a trip along the famous Golden Mile towards the harbour, taking in general monuments of historical significance.

You will find that Durban really is a city where east meets West – a strong British colonial influence blends with Indian and Zulu cultures – and this is what makes Durban unique among South Africa’s major cities. A visit to the Indian market where you can bargain to your heart’s content and the City’s Deaf Heritage History Route, will leave you with an indelible memory of this bustling city.

This Tour can be combined with Inanda Cultural Route tour

Inanda is one of Durban’s townships with great cultural values. It is the home of the first ANC president John Langalibalele Dube who is also the founder of the Ohlange institute. In this institute is where Mr Nelson Mandela casted his first democratic vote in 1994, as a sign of respect to Mr Dube. Inanda is also where Mahatma Gandhi lived for 21 years and originally worked out his philosophy of passive resistance. The tour ends with style, a Shisa nyama, a real township braai (barbecue).

You will be taken through the suburbs of Kloof and Westville to Durban’s Snake & Crocodile Farm. Thereafter visit a Zulu Cultural Village and learn more about their customs and way of life. Here you witness the traditional war of life and enjoy a demonstration of Zulu dancing. Enjoy an exciting free flight raptor show, with many interesting facts about birds of prey. Join your guide on an entertaining and informative open vehicle drive exploring the Fauna and Flora of the Valley and visit a contemporary Zulu family's homestead in the Valley before returning to Durban.

Townships (black only community areas) came to existence in the times of Apartheid. There you will find out the facts about the township. Depart on a life experience tour to see few of many townships around Durban. Pass the barber, the tuck-shop and the tavern (local bar). Interact with the locals know more about the area from the people who live there. We end our tour with lunch at our local restaurant -  Shisa nyama, a braai (barbecue) in township style.

The Apartheid government classified four different kinds of groups in South Africa. Whites, Indians, Coloureds and Blacks. Every group had their own rights and their own place to live. Now, more than 15 years after the Apartheid officially ended the South African nation is still very much divided. The different groups have different life styles.

We travel to the north of Durban towards Stanger & Eshowe. On route we visit the King Shaka memorial. Arrive at Shakaland and experience the rich of the Zulu traditions.

We drive along the North Coast route taking us past Gingindlovo and Eshowe to Shakaland. We spend our day experiencing the history, culture and customs of the most famous of all leaders of the Zulu nation ever to have inhabited this area. After a thrilling display of the Zulu tribe singing and dancing, a typical Zulu meal is served in a rondavel overlooking the Goedetrou Dam.  You will leave with a unique and unforgettable experience.
